Rachel Yu

Graduated from Hong Kong Baptist University with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Music, majoring in Composition. Rachel is now the Musician Intern (Part-time) at Yat Po Singers.

Rachel debuted as an independent singer-songwriter under the name RAEY in 2023, taking full creative lead in songwriting, arrangement and production for her original releases. She was also named among the Top 20 finalists in the Chill Club X THE FIRST TAKE: THE STAGE OF VOICE singing competition.

Alongside her solo work, she has also engaged in choral and live performances. She has participated in the Hong Kong International A Cappella Festival 2024 and performed as a backing vocalist in Ngayi Tse’s concert. She aspires to connect with people and communities through sound and music, and contributed to “Every Life Is A Song” Landing at Wan Chai – Songs for Everyone IV, which she composed songs inspired by local community stories. Rachel also co-founded the art initiative “soften and soar”, a project that explores relationships and urban connections through community art practices.

In addition to her artistic pursuits, Rachel is active in music education, teaching A Cappella and creative courses. Her previous roles as a pianist, recording engineer, and project assistant allow her to continually expand her creative practice and explore new possibilities in music and arts.
